The Eastern Goods Yard comprises the Granary Building, the Eastern Transit Shed, the Western Transit Shed (WTS), the Assembly Shed and the East and West Granary Offices.

The Granary Building is flanked on either side by the Eastern and Western Transit Sheds. These were originally used for incoming and outgoing goods wagons respectively. Completed by 1850 and designed by Lewis Cubitt, they are each 180m long, 25m wide and 7.6m high.

The Assembly Shed is situated between the two Transit Sheds and is the original covered marshalling area for wagons.
