Western Transit Shed
The Western Transit Shed is located at the heart of King’s Cross Central within a complex of listed railway buildings dating back to the 1850s.
The scheme for the refurbishment of the Western Transit Shed has been designed by Stanton Williams. It will predominantly comprise a flexible shell and core basebuild, to allow for future subdivision into a series of retail, food and drink, leisure and office units.
The historic walls of the building will be retained, along with the basement stables. There will be a new roof and fit out elements within.
The sketch proposals show that 55,800 sq ft NIA of office space can be created in the Western Transit Shed, occupying the entire upper two floors (excluding the Stables Unit), accessed from two entrances at ground floor level. One ground floor entrance is on the south side of the east-west public route through the Granary Complex, the other is located approximately midway along the building.
The remainder of the ground floor and the multi-level Stables Unit allows for future subdivision into a series of retail, food and drink, and leisure units, including an additioanl office area of 2,000 sq ft NIA.
