Business volunteers can provide expertise and resource to local charities and schools whilst developing their own skills and local connections as a result. New employees will be based at King's Cross, providing a pool of potential business volunteers.

Charities and employees can differ in their requirements and expectations and both can benefit from a brokerage and support service. It is our intention to work with London Borough of Camden to establish a Business Volunteering Programme (BVP) at King's Cross which supports volunteers and the third sector to create successful volunteering opportunities.

The number of employees on the site is limited at present but King's Cross Central staff have volunteered their time to support a range of projects, from presenting at local careers days to painting the hoarding of the King's Cross Central Skip Garden to mentoring small start-up businesses. We have also worked with our business partners to develop joint volunteering projects in the local community - all of the main contractors also run their own projects in King's Cross. The culture of volunteering we are begining to develop on the site should support development of a successful BVP in the medium term.
