This historic building dating from 1850 is set to become the House of Illustration (HOI).

The HOI will be a museum celebrating the art of illustration; the first of its kind in the UK. It will showcase the works of illustrators, past and present, from the UK and abroad. Exhibitions will draw from the museum’s permanent collection, which includes the complete works of Quentin Blake, and will also welcome visiting collections from other acclaimed museums.

The HOI will also be a centre for learning, with an education programme that engages the public and the local community.

The HOI is backed by a strong group of trustees, including Quentin Blake, one of Britain’s best-loved and most successful illustrators and children's authors.

A concept design is being taken forward by Witherford Watson Mann Architects, with input from Argent and HOI.
