Gasholder No. 8 Review with Argyle School
We are happy to work with schools to develop bespoke projects. We ran a project with Argyle Primary School based on the final use of Gasholder No. 8, a Victorian gasholder that will be re-erected to the north of the canal.
This project involved an initial model viewing and presentation on the gasholder. The class carried out a survey of parents' opinions on the future use of the structure. Pupils analysed results in excel and returned to the German Gymnasium to present findings to King's Cross Central staff. Parents were also invited to attend. Finally, Argyle School pupils wrote letters to KXC setting out their proposed uses for the space.
This project helped pupils learn more about local geography. The project also provided an opportunity to improve presentation skills.
- 30 pupils involved
- 7 parents attended final presentation
'Just a quick note to say thank you so much for taking the time to speak to our class (6DM) regarding the new regeneration of King's Cross. They really enjoyed your presentation and looking at the large scaled model helped them to visualize what their local area will be like in the future. Needless to say, they were impressed with what they heard and saw! We did a lot of work about regeneration and its possible effect on the local area back in the classroom.'
