Employment & Training
The development at King's Cross brings employment and training opportunities to local residents. In order to make the most of these opportunities, we have built a Construction Skills Centre (CSC),and are now working with our partners to run an apprenticeship programme, develop specialised training courses and encourage recruitment of local people to vacancies on the site through the jobs.
Our role, in partnership with our contractors, is to ensure that training and employment opportunities are made available. The Camden team at King's Cross Construction, in partnership with other agencies, work hard to ensure that residents have the skills they need to access the jobs and training on offer. Training is provided by Carillion Training Services and other providers. We meet regularly at the Contractors Forum to monitor and improve our performance.
The project has been awarded National Skills Academy status. This means that King's Cross Central and the contractors are committed to achieving a series of targets aimed at encouraging new entrants to the sector, upskilling the existing workforce and developing a skills culture on site. These targets are met by the services on offer through the CSC but there are also additional initiatives such as professional development programmes and skills programmes for migrants workers.
