Ongoing employment and training in the CSC
There is a range of training and employment services run from the CSC. The core programme is the training of apprentices. They are trained in the centre and they are placed on the site in order to develop experience and qualify for achievement of an NVQ.
In addition, there is a range of other courses that are available in the centre. Some of these are taster courses that ensure local residents have the skills to access the apprenticeship programme. Specialised training is provided to ensure that local people can access employment opportunities on the site. Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) testing is conducted - obtaining a CSCS card is an essential prerequisite for working on the site.
A local recruitment service is run from the centre to help local people access job opportunities. Both the training and operation teams run an outreach programme to advertise services to local people.

'We will always give them 100% so we expect the same back from them. The 3 apprentices currently placed on Pyramid have been the best apprentices that we have had on the site and they are doing really well.'
Jason King from Pyramid (working on Easter Goods Yard)
'I am really enjoying my site placement with Pyramid, they are really helpful and have taught me so much. I have gained so much experience and it is a completely different environment from the training centre. I am learning how to do everything on site and I am building up my hand skills.'
Jamie Philpot was placed with Pyramid in September 2009.
